Mikesnavely got their new print or packaging design by running a design contest:
Design the next DVD cover for Mission Imperative!

We present seminars and produce DVDs on issues relating to the biblical view of origins.
What's your vision?
First - my sincere apologies for having to terminate our contest late last year. I didn't think about the problems associated with a contest like this going on over the Christmas season. Consequently, I was often not available, nor were many of you, the artists. So, we thought it best to terminate it and launch it anew once 2012 got under way. Thanks for your patience..... We need a DVD cover designed. The title of this DVD is: "How Evolutionized Are You?" (subtitle: "The Interactive Pop-Quiz"). We need a complete "outsert" for a DVD (a cover) which includes the front cover, the spine and the back cover. (We also need an insert for the inside of the DVD jacket. Thematically, the insert will be similar to the outer jacket, so no new artwork needs to be done for this - just a slightly different layout.) The front cover will consist of the title, subtitle, and graphics. This is where the artist can be creative. (Our logo, "Mission Imperative Video Production", will need to be added in the lower right corner of the front cover - as in submitted Grand Canyon DVD sample). The back cover will cosist of our organization logo in the upper left corner, script (which we will supply), similar layout on the bottom third - as in submitted examples. We can supply a photo of me to be used in the lower left. Other background graphics and design will be up to the artist.
Artistically, we need a design that will catch the spirit of a pop-quiz on the subject of origins. Specifically, the DVD is a quiz, and will ask 30 questions about what the viewer knows about creation, evolution, the Bible, dinosaurs, the flood, etc. Our main target age group is high school and college, but really can be any age. We need a design that will be catchy, appealing, perhaps colorful, even perhaps whimsical. In my own mind, I'm picturing a strict-looking teacher, perhaps with his arms crossed and holding a ruler or a pointer, with his glasses part-way down his nose, one eyebrow up with a "questioning" look. It's just a thought I played with - perhaps even a claymation image? - but couldn't get anywhere with it. Hopefully, you will be able to create something that will catch the spirit of a pop quiz. Also, we're envisioning the subtitle as perhaps a stamp - like a rubber stamp at an angle. This isn't a requirement, though - just an idea.
