k.carter got their new logo design by running a design contest:
We need a powerful design that empowers athletes and embodies our commitment to mental health/growth

We believe that developing resilient, empowered athletes requires a commitment to accountability, effort, and energy. We ask the same of our athletes as we ask of ourselves. Our approach to coaching is rooted in an immeasurable love and understanding of the game-- understanding that it is more than just a game, it is an opportunity to enhance character along with athleticism. Our love of the game and personal experiences motivate us to continue growing and augmenting the sport of field hockey in California. We aim to create an inclusive, diverse, and supportive environment for young athletes. 1. Our program is designed to create more volume of playing opportunities and to enable athletes to receive variety in high-caliber coaching. 2. Our curriculum is designed to challenge athletes mentally and physically, while also maintaining a baseline of enjoyment in mastery. 3. Our hope is that athletes and their families receive education through this program, becoming equipped with the resources they need to competently pursue future endeavors within the sport, if desired. We are committed to promoting resilience in the minds and bodies of our athletes– to have an effect on their lives both on the hockey pitch and off. We value combining high-performance training with quality coaching to create opportunities for well-rounded growth for our athletes.
We'd really like our logo to embody our values as a company. We are keen on color tones reflecting concepts of mental health and awareness and we are looking to have concepts of California identity within our logo. We want our logo to encompass more than field hockey but remain clean and concise.

And then… they selected a winner!
His work stood out compared to hundreds of design submissions on our contest. He is a smart designer with a great aesthetic. Very responsive to feedback, responds quickly, and works with you until things are 'perfect' and you're happy. Would certainly work with him again.
Along the way, they met lots of talented designers…
