*TARGET Benefits Managers (HR) for large corporations in the Silicon Valley, that's right the really "big" boys! *FUNCTION Getting the corporations to hire me (Proactive Parenting) to come in and do a monthly parenting seminar for parent-employees. Your design needs to be fresh, and creative to entice them to move past the cover panel and keep reading—because these guys have seen it all. It does NOT need to be complicated, just dynamic! *AGE HR 30-50, Parents 25-45 *LOCATION This brochure will be mailed to over 100 of the biggest tech companies in the world. FB, Twitter, Pixar, Microsoft, Intel etc. Your work will be seen by them all! *LIFESTYLE They live an affluent life and are only impressed with fresh new concepts. You must bring your "A" game for this one. Know that possible future work could come out of this for you! *VALUES This is CA. Parents value their work and their family. Even though they work in technology they seek an honest, natural, green, realistic approach to their parenting and that's what I offer. To understand who I am a bit better, www.proactiveparenting.net OR my Facebook page: ProactiveParentingTips *GOAL To blend a design around the fairytale I've created for the cover, describing the problem, with the corporate details inside AS you surround the entire piece with color & design that reflects, growth, empowerment, and balance. Readers need to "feel" who I am from this. SUMMARY A challenge, possibly. An opportunity for the right person, absolutely!
*FONTS* I used Malayalam MN for the headers, and Bodoni SvtyTwo ITC TT-Book for the copy. I chose those fonts to make the copy tight in Microsoft word. *Please use fonts that are corporate in nature, not plain, just professional. That way the cop orate done is juxatposed to the illustrations. THIS IS IMPORTANT: I do NOT want this to be too heavily designed. I want it to be a design that is whimsical yet have corporate attributes, and the design should lead the reader to the next panel. *IDEAS* You have all established your design style. From here take the following into account. The designs need to clean and professional. I like thinner rather than thicker illustrations. I see the design on the cover as being artfully wrapped around the other panels so the "fairytale" theme is consistent. *HOWEVER, there has to be a nod to corporate America. I already have one of the largest Worldwide Corporations waiting to see this brochure. So please make the fairytale-ish without going over the top, while using the font and icons to represent the corporate style. *PLEASE do not let the design dominate the copy. Some of you have used the colors straight from my website, I DO NOT want those colors to be used! * My website is going to be changing*. !!!!!!!! And due to the logo colors being Pantone colors, they are very intense. If you do use those colors in the design, including in the logo, try and mute it down a bit, if possible to be closer to the web colors.!!!!! Everyone please read your comments and also, if you can read the other's comments, so you can improve your design. My feedback: I like a clean design, which for me means some white space. I like profession thinner rather than thicker illustrations. I LOVE and NEED the first sentence "A While Ago …"etc to be LARGE. That is the hook. I also prefer icons to represent the words onsite, online, and phone (or whatever I wrote). I need the list of topics chart to be easy to follow at a glance. It too can use icons to represent 3 months, 6 months and 1 Year. I am really impressed with each of your designs and can't wait to see how you translate this feedback. What to avoid
Please avoid using a boiler plate brochure concept. That would cause HR never to see what I offer. No cartoons, no stick figures, no primary colors. Other than that, and that's a lot, have fun and let's see whatcha got!
